Cameron Williams is a young girl that just wanted to help out and do something for our local troops.

She loves to design art, so the 9-year-old Amelia student was inspired to start making handmade jewelry to hopefully raise enough money to send care packages to military men and women fighting in world conflicts overseas.

"I just had the idea to help those who are helping us," the Amelia Middle School student said. "I want to raise as much as possible."

Williams, who lives in Amelia with her parents Joan and Keith Yager, started making the necklaces, bracelets, and earrings in January - she has made hundreds in only the last two months, she said.

Cameron's jewelry project, which she has not yet named, is about giving back and helping out in this time of war.

"It was her idea," proud father Keith Yager boasts. "She wants to let our soldiers know what they are fighting for - to let them know that they are not forgotten."

The jewelry pieces and pendants, which Cameron designs and makes with leather, decorative charms, and beads, have already raised a couple of hundred dollars, which mother Joan said has paid postage on several packages already sent.

"We are very proud of Cameron," Joan said. "She can make anything and they are lovely designs."

Cameron started selling her jewelry at pow wows, which are Native American celebrations in the community.

The entire Clermont community can now help Cameron raise money for the troops. They can be purchased by calling the Yagers at (513) 753-4190 ($3 and less).
